THERE were no new Covid-19-related deaths recorded across Worcestershire's hospitals on the day the life of a 16-year-old was claimed by the virus.

The latest figures announced by the NHS today (February 8) saw the overall death toll remain at 697 in Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and 51 for Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust remains.

It means the total number of coronavirus related deaths in Worcestershire hospitals is now 748 with the reported deaths in all settings staying at 1,049.

A further 313 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing to 76,080 the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals, NHS England said on Monday.

Patients were aged between 16 and 108. All except six, aged between 49 and 81, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between December 24 and February 7 with the majority being on or after February 3.

There were 13 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

The Acute Hospitals Trust covers Worcestershire Royal Hospital, as well as the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital.

The Health and Care NHS trust covers community hospitals and rehabilitation wards, including Worcester City Impatient Unit, Malvern Community Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital, Pershore Community Hospital, the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, Tenbury Community Hospital and the Wyre Forest Ward.
