A 'DEDICATED and caring' homecare worker has been nominated for a Worcestershire Health and Social Care Award.

Lorraine Hunt works for the Social Care Academy, a domiciliary care company providing care to people in their own homes across Worcestershire.

Lorraine, who works as the team leader for the company in Pershore, has been nominated for the The Domiciliary Care Worker Award by Kayleigh Ludlow.

Kayleigh said: "Lorraine has gone above and beyond, for not only her clients, but for her team as well.

"She always carries her duties to her clients with a smile on her face underneath her face mask. She always judges a situation carefully so she can provide the best outcome, and that is just for her clients!

"As a team leader she is kind, caring and considerate, and she makes sure that her team members have all the equipment they need. We can call her anytime of day about a situation we are struggling with and she will always either provide the guidance you need or she will try and help as much as she can. She wants the best for her clients and her team.

"As a team leader she contributes so much to the care sector. Lorraine is what every carer should be and is an amazing example of what all carers can be."

Lorraine, who joined the business in June, after previously working in retail, said: "It's been such a challenging time but you do everything that you can for the clients because they’re very special people and you try to make their lives as comfortable as you can.

"We've also had the physical challenges with the flooding and snow in the villages so we have those issues as well and you make sure you’re there to support them whatever time of day."

On winning the award, Lorraine said: "It would be absolutely wonderful, I'm quite humbled actually but I do the job because I absolutely love it , and I'm very dedicated so it would be an honour to win."
