OVER the Easter weekend staff and residents from Cavendish Park Care Home in Evesham raised £170 for Sports Relief by running or walking a combined half marathon in just one day.
Intrepid residents limbered up, and wearing their step counting watches completed laps of the garden, clocking up those 13.2 miles.
One resident even managed to clock up almost one mile by herself, and staff also ran or walked in their own time, all adding to the mileage. The residents received ‘Finisher’ t-shirts for their efforts.
Wearing hers proudly, one care home resident said: “I would never have thought that at the age of 92 I would take part in a half marathon!” “Everyone felt a real sense of achievement and enjoyed a well deserved afternoon tea in the garden, basking in sunshine and glory.”
