THE trial of two men charged with the attempted murder of two police officers after a shot was fired 'with intent to endanger life' in Worcester, is again listed to start today.

Gerard Doherty, 20, of Oxford Road, Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Warwickshire and Ciaran Irvine, 19, of no fixed address are jointly charged with the attempted murder of two police officers, PC Simon Damm and PC James Rimmer.

We have also previously reported a third man Kyle Ryley, 21, of no fixed address is charged with the same offence, but appears not to be listed.

They are further charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession of an offensive weapon (a machete) in a public place. Ryley alone faces charges of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

The case was originally listed for Worcester Crown Court yesterday. There was a police presence at the court, with family members waiting for it to begin.

But the case was not called on, with the defendants in conferences with their legal team throughout the day.

An alternative has been put down to the trial on the court listing, a three week trial of fact.

The case is listed for a morning hearing in courtroom one.

Meanwhile the trial of a man described as second in command of a county lines drug dealing operation in Worcester has begun.

Jaskaium Kharaud, 21, of Dorchester Way, Coventry, stands accused of conspiring with others to supply crack cocaine between July 12 and July 24, 2018. He also is accused of the same offence, between the same dates, of conspiring with others to supply heroin.

Kharaud was described by Andrew Baker, prosecuting, to be the "lieutenant" to another man, who was described as being head of the operation and who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Two others, who were both aged 15 at the time of the offences, are also accused of the same offences and are standing trial with Kharaud, having all pleaded not guilty at an earlier hearing.

In courtroom 3 Richard Allwood is listed for trial, Matthew Ellis is also listed for trial and Simon Clancy is listed as a for mention hearing.
