With its historic buildings and wide open spaces, Worcestershire is such a fantastic choice for a filming location.
Directors and producers have noticed this too which is why they have made so many Worcestershire towns and cities their backdrop when filming a TV show.
From long-running soaps to hit television dramas, here are just some notable TV shows that were shot in Worcestershire:
1. Rosie and Jim
This childhood classic first aired in 1990 with the final episode airing almost 10 years later.
Jon Cunliffe was the writer and star of the show.
Puppets, Rosie and Jim, lived on a narrowboat called the Ragdoll which is from the West Midlands.
However, did you also know that some episodes were filmed right here in Worcestershire?
In series 1, episode 19 titled ‘steam’ a train can be seen passing over Victoria Bridge between Arley and Bewdley.

Blunts shoes shoe shop in Stourport-on-Severn and Worcester Post and Sorting Office in Worcester also feature.
Ragley Hall in Alcester also features on the first series of the show.
2. Father Brown
This BBC TV show is one of the more modern additions to the list. There are eight season in total and the first season aired in 2013.
It stars Mark Williams, who player Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter movies.
It follows the protagonist, Father Brown, who is a crime-solving Roman catholic priest.
A few episodes have actually been filmed right on our doorstep.
Part of season eight, episode one was actually filmed in Worcester Cathedral.
The Guildhall on the high street also featured in season three when it was temporarily transformed into ‘Belvedere Museum’.
Rous Lench Court in Abbots Morton also features in the first season.
3. Time Team
Non-fiction shows were also filmed in Worcestershire.
Time Team was a historical show that first aired in 1994 and focused on teams of specialists as they uncover hidden histories about a sites and cities.
It ran for a whopping 20 seasons.
The team visited Kemerton in the Wychavon district back in 1998 where they uncovered histories dating back to the Iron Age.
Throckmorton in Pershore also featured in 2001 where they appeared to find Bronze Age burial sites and an iron age settlement.
4. Chuckle Vision
Do you remember Chuckle Vision?
It was a long-running BBC children's television series starring Barry and Paul Elliott as The Chuckle Brothers.
In season eight episode seven, filming took place at Arley Station where the brothers are running a train station.
In the episode, you can see the station platform as well as the signal box.
5. Oh, Doctor Beeching!
This BBC sitcom ran for two seasons and the first episode aired in 1995.
It focuses on the fictional railway station of Hatley in the 1960s- and the various romances and dramas that occur between railway staff.
The programme was filmed on the Severn Valley Railway and Arley SVR station was used as Hatley Station.
6. The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries
Oh, Doctor Beeching! wasn’t the only TV show to be filmed on the Severn Valley Railway.
BBC’s The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries was also partially shot here.
A closing scene was filmed outside Kidderminster station entrance and on the station concourse, which at the time did not have the canopy.
The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries is a British detective television series adapted from nine novels by Dame Ngaio.
The first season aired in 1990.
7. Doctors

Daytime TV show, Doctors, is a long-running series which focuses on Doctors and staff at Mill Health Centre and Campus surgery.
They actually filmed one of their riskiest stunts right here in Worcestershire.
In 2018, stunt and camera crews set up a dramatic car crash in a field near the village of Alvechurch, Worcestershire.
Characters Will Heston Carter, Al Haskey and Mrs Tembe were involved in the fictional crash that aired in November 2018.
8. Unforgotten

ITV’s unforgotten follows the lives of setectives Cassie Stuart and Sunil 'Sunny' Khan as they try to solve a series of cold cases involving murders and historic disappearances.
A photographer called Crack the Lens snapped a picture of them filming the series in Broadway in 2016.
A lot of series two was also filmed in many other areas of The Cotswolds.
