A 13-year-old schoolboy from Pershore has been selected to be part of the British Superbike team FHO Racing for the 2021 season to compete in the Ohvale World Series.

Max Feeney, who goes to Pershore High School, will be among the likes of Isle of Man TT winner Peter Hickman.

Max’s dad, Mark, said: “The team owner of FHO racing and Peter Hickman had seen Max at a test day when Max had a big crash, but he got back on after the crash and Peter came over to me and praised Max.

“A few weeks later we had a phone call saying the team owners said ‘this kid’s got something and we need to get him on a bike’.”

Max said: “It still seems unreal to be honest. I’ve been watching Hicky (Peter Hickman) on YouTube lapping the TT and now to be on the same team is bonkers.”

Earlier this year Max’s year took a turn for the worst after a BMX crash left him with broken bones in his leg. However, Pershore business owner James Grant of Regain Performance offered help and support to get him back on track, and he has been able to bounce back from injury in time for the start of the season.
