A CARER has been left 'shaken and upset' after a gang of young men attacked her when she was walking to work.

The 20-year-old, who does not wish to be named for fear of repercussions from her attackers, has been left with bruising on her thighs after being pelted by the stones.

She said the four boys were 'launching stones and pieces of rubble with catapults' at the windows of homes and when she intervened they turned on her.

She said: I was walking to work at around 5pm on Thursday (May 13) when I saw a group of four boys using catapults to launch stones and rocks at a house just off Berkeley Way in Warndon Villages.

"I know an elderly person lives at the house they were targeting and so I asked them to stop what they were doing. They ran away when I approached them. So I turned around and called my dad to let him know what I had seen.

"Then a piece of rubble flew straight passed my head, when I looked up I saw the group had come back and were launching stones at me. They caught me on my legs and shoulder.

"It was terrifying. I ran in the other direction and they chased me, I managed to ring the police whilst I ran. It was so scary. Thankfully they stopped chasing me when I got to The Barn Owl."

The brave carer reported her attackers to the police and then went straight back off to work.

She said: "I knew people were relying on me. I make home visits to older people. I couldn't let them down. So I just did what I had to do and carried on."

A spokesman for West Mercia Police confirmed they received a call from the victim which they have 'investigated' and have arranged to speak to her later today (May 14).
