WORCESTER, Wychavon and Malvern council areas are all bucking national trends with drops in Covid-19 infection rates – but Ledbury is experiencing an “above average” rise.

All three regions were down in the seven-day rolling data up to and including June 9 with Worcester having 17 cases, down from 29, to register a current rate of 16.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Wychavon was down one to 10 cases, meaning a rate of 7.7 cases per 100,000 and Malvern’s came down 60 per cent with just six active cases, a rate of 7.6 per 100,000 people.

Only two areas of the three patches had more three or more cases in them – King George’s Field in Worcester has four and Evesham East has three.

In Ledbury there are only 16 infections but that is up and does mean the rate is 159.1 per 100,000 people, above the national average.

Worst-hit in the UK is Blackburn with Darwen with 930 cases, which is up by 154 on the week before to register 621.3 cases per 100,000.
