THE A Cappella singers of Vale Harmony have rehearsed in person together for the first time in 15 months since the start of the Coronovirus pandemic.

They gathered outdoors in an open-sided gazebo in the garden of The Fleece Inn at Bretforton and stood socially distanced for their 90-minute rehearsal.

The chorus, based in Pershore, have continued to meet via Zoom every Wednesday night but could only sing individually to a recorded song track.

Musical director Mike Gearey, was delighted with the first in-person rehearsal: “It was great to all meet each other again. We thought we would be pretty rusty but the sound we made was really very good. We will certainly be ready for our first outdoor performance planned for September.”

The chorus have used the pandemic to re-brand themselves, losing the word barbershop from their title. From now on they’ll be known as Vale Harmony, the A Cappella Fellas.

Evesham Journal:

Club vice-chairman, bass singer Andy Parsloe, said: “We are always looking for new male singers, particularly tenors at the top of the range, but it seems the word barbershop put them off a little.

"We're investing in new colourful performance uniforms and have developed a new logo with a bright, lively image. Any man who'd like to come and sing with us would be made very welcome."

When Covid restrictions allow, The A Cappella Fellas will resume rehearsals at their normal venue, the St Andrews Centre in Pershore but for the next few weeks they will continue to rehearse at The Fleece.
