GP surgeries in Evesham and Pershore have been ranked from best to worst performing by patients as part of an NHS survey.

The results of the latest GP survey - which asked almost 800 patients across the two towns for their views on things such as how easy it is to make appointments over the phone – show that some surgeries are performing better than others in the opinion of the people receiving the care.

Evesham and Pershore’s surgeries fared well in the survey with at least four-fifths of patients at every practice saying they had a ‘good’ experience.

The practice with the most respondents saying they had a ‘good’ or better experience was Abbottswood Medical Centre in Pershore with 95 per cent of patients in the survey praising the surgery. Of those, as many as 70 per cent of people said they had an ‘excellent’ experience at the surgery.

This was closely followed by Evesham’s Riverside Surgery where 94 per cent of those asked said their experience was a ‘good’ one.

A total of 92 per cent of respondents at Abbey Medical Practice in Evesham’s Merstow Green said the same and 91 per cent of those asked at Pershore Medical Practice noted the ‘good’ service in the surgery survey.

The same was said by 88 per cent of respondents at Merstow Green Medical Practice and 82 per cent of those surveyed at Demontfort Medical Centre.

The annual GP patient surgery, which was carried out by the NHS between January and April in what has been a Covid-dominated year, found that Abbottswood Medical Centre was again top of the pile when it came to booking an appointment with 84 per cent of people saying the experience was a good one.

In second place was Riverside Surgery in Evesham followed in joint third by Pershore Medical Practice and Abbey Medical Practice.

The surgeries ranked in last place for booking appointments were Demontfort Medical Centre and Merstow Green Medical Practice where a quarter of respondents at both surgeries said the experience of booking an appointment was not a good one.

Pershore Medical Practice topped the list for the most helpful receptionists with 98 per cent of replies to the survey praising staff at the surgery.
