MOTORISTS might feel like they are melting behind the wheel in a heatwave but the roads the drive on literally are.

Gloucestershire County Council has been dusting roads around Evesham and the Cotswolds, the surfacing being put down to soak into melting bitumen that threatens to destabilise the structure of roads.

Work has already taken place on the A38 Tewkesbury bypass, the B4211 Worcester Road at Corse and the B4078 on Evesham Road and Winchcombe Road, to the north of the village of Winchcombe just outside Evesham.

The council will continue to monitor other roads with the potential to be affected.
