If you have been through Market Square on a Tuesday night or Sunday afternoon recently, you will no doubt have come face-to-face with a few dozen bikers.

That is because the Valkyrie Bar has begun hosting its popular meet ups twice a week.

Marketing manager Becki Stean believes it is an event for all the community.

She said: “The events bring people from different locations across the country, bikers and non-bikers, some people just come to admire the bikes.

“Everyone that attends also brings business to all other local businesses, as they purchase food and drinks from a lot of other Evesham Establishments.

“The majority of reactions from locals are positive, as they are helping Evesham businesses as well so this can never be a bad thing.”

The meetups began when the bar opened in 2017, originally as a monthly event but after realising how popular they were, have now become a twice weekly occurrence following the most recent lockdown.

On Tuesday, from 6:30pm the bar hosts Bike Night, a chance for like-minded people to meet up and socialise, then on Sunday from 10:30am to 9:30pm the Market Square is transformed into an all-day hub for bikers to meet up or take a break from a weekend ride.

This past Sunday, July 25, around 250 scooters took over the square, which created a buzz among the Evesham community.

The weekend was doubly special as it saw the return of live music to the Valkyrie Bar, for which the Mayor of Evesham, Sue Amor, was in attendance.

Ms Stean added: “Welcoming Live music back to the Valkyrie Bar was a long time coming. We have missed being able to host live bands again and entertain our customers.

“When the Mayor of Evesham offered to open our brand-new stage, that we had built during lockdown ready for the bands to return, it was an honour. We felt this made not only the night but the weekend and reopening of our dancefloor and live music coming back, extra special.”

The Melvin Hancox Band took to the stage followed by the bar’s new resident DJ.
