HORSE lovers will get to see some of the nation's favourites at this year's Moreton Show.

The event, being held on Saturday, September 4, is nationally famous for its show classes and show jumping.

Many of the classes are qualifiers for the Horse of the Year Show and attract entrants from across the UK.

This year, Moreton Show has a extra celebration for Britain’s pony lovers with more Mountain and Moorland classes than ever before.

These stocky little ponies, with their flowing manes and tails, have been bred from the native breeds of the British Isles.

Breeds like the Dartmoor, Welsh, Fell and Connemara’s are especially popular.

Jess Parkes, from the Moreton Show, said: "Our equine classes attract well over 1,000 horses and riders and we’re thrilled that we’re back for 2021.

"We’re delighted too that we’ll have new National Pony Society Mountain and Moorland classes, which will double the number of classes in that section.

"The ponies are really attractive and lively characters. They’re shown with their manes loose and unbraided and look fabulous in the show ring.

"We have novice and open classes, and Horse of the Year qualifiers which means there is competition for riders of all levels.

‘We appreciate just how tough it’s been over the past few months for everyone who loves horses and we’re determined to stage our best ever horse show.’

Moreton Show, which grew from the Moreton and District Horse Society, is a charity which aims to promote and educate people about farming, horses and the countryside.

Jess added: "Our horse section always produces a great showcase of exhibits with six rings of showing and showjumping action.

"It really is a fantastic spectacle of equine life."

Alongside the Mountain and Moorland ponies, there are show classes for retired racehorses and hunters. There is also a display of the giants of the equine world in the Grand Arena - the heavy horse display - showing the beauty and grace of the workhorse of the fields and breweries.
