YOUNGSTERS can build dens. go on bug hunts and nature trails and learn campfire skills thanks to a new business idea from two Worcester women.

Rachael Goodman, a former primary school teacher, and Sarah Smith, who runs the popular Shake, Rattle and Groove music groups, have set up ‘Worcester Woodland Explorers.’

The woodland activity classes are set in a beautiful and magical forest clearing just outside St John’s, on the A44 Bromyard Road.

The pair wanted to set up a business that would allow youngsters to explore, make new friends, connect with nature, and learn new skills.

Sarah said: “We welcome parents and children of all ages to come and explore our natural surroundings, immerse themselves in nature and take part in a huge range of forest-based activities. Children should be confident walkers, from 16 months upwards, and always be accompanied by an adult for the whole session.”

Those taking part can play with mud kitchens, in digging areas and building balance courses.

The business started on Monday, September 6 and will cover stay and play sessions, birthday parties, holiday family sessions and a space for schools, nurseries and pre-schools to try out too.

Sarah added: “We like to plan around themes, so that there are new opportunities each week, but also encourage children to follow their own interests and ideas too.

"We have woodland swings, rope ladders and hammocks to relax in and each session finishes with time in Basecamp to listen to a story, sing songs or talk about a favourite part of session, whilst enjoying hot chocolate, squash and biscuits!

"We are excited at the opportunity to welcome families into our woods and get to see children having fun and growing and developing in confidence as the weeks go by.”
