MORE than 2,000 people were at the Peopleton Autumn show to see a series of classic cars, steam engines and other vehicles.

Two hundred classic cars were on display along with two steam engines, four fire engines, including a Green Goddess, numerous static steam engines and a number of World War Two army vehicles.

There were five winners from different categories who gave a lap of honour to the crowd.

There were also many winners of cup presentations for best vegetables, flowers, cakes, jams, fruit and paintings.

Dozens of stalls were outside by the arena while others in a dedicated marquee were run by Peopleton villagers and there were more activities on offer in the village hall.

Visitors enjoyed raffles, tombolas, vegetable sales and book, bric-à-brac and toy stalls. There was also people selling jewellery, locally-produced cider and gift stalls.

Nigel Clay, the show's chairman, said: "More than 100 full English breakfasts were sold in the morning followed in the afternoon by tea and cakes

"Peopleton cricket club manfully sold hot dogs and burgers to many many hungry visitors.

"Another large marquee housed the well stocked bar and stage for the many various music groups singers and very entertaining local ukulele band. It was uch enjoyed!

"Music continued all day and was much to the delight of many visitors sitting listening and sampling local drinks from the bar."

Alongside the stalls, there were displays by Peopleton Ladies Zumba Club, Pershore Junior Rugby Section and dog training and handling.

Children and adults played tug of war - with Peopleton pub The Crown emerging as the winner.

Mr Clay added: "The show was truly a day for all ages.

"The show is in its 10th year and the profits go to support village amenities and is essential to maintain our unique village life’s and environment.

"Next year we will be making changes expanding on food and more children’s amusements plus other exciting possibilities.

"A huge Thankyou goes to the show committee who do so much plus the 80 or so local volunteers giving time and effort into creating a memorable show and getting everyone out of those Covid blues."
