The first ever Christmas Tree Festival in Eckington was a big success.

Over 40 decorated trees filled the village church, Holy Trinity, last weekend with many people coming along to enjoy the occasion.

From Friday December 10 to Sunday December 12, visitors were invited to enjoy a mince pie and mulled wine as they stroll around the trees, which had been decorated by various local groups and residents.

Organiser, Colin Reeves, said: “Eckington Christmas Tree Festival has been yet another success for the village.

“Over 40 trees from the tiny to the large, traditional, artistic, colourful but all meaningful for each of the participants from village families, streets, businesses and organisations.

“The important purpose was getting the villagers, parents and children out and about, sharing, meeting and getting into the spirit of Christmas and birth of Jesus.”
