A new cake shop could be coming to Pershore, if a local baker gets her way.

Danielle Lyons, 37, has been baking on and off for around a decade but she is starting to think about taking the next step and opening her own store.

She says she has her passion really blossomed after the birth of her son, now two.

“Baking is not my full-time profession although would very much like it to be,” said Danielle.

“I very much hope to be able to open a shop in the not-too-distant future in Pershore.

“I would love to start competing next year and aiming to take something to cake International next year.

“Also big thanks to my other half Richard, he has no idea how much he helps and encourages me to strive to be better.”

Although competition is on the agenda, Danielle played down her chances of entering the Bake Off.

She added: “It has entered my mind in the past but decided not to pursue as I only really do cakes so would be lost in the savoury sections.”

Danielle has over 1,000 fans on her Facebook page, Danielle’s Cakes, with many people especially impressed by her recent lifelike dog cake.

She said: “The 3D dog cake has been the most exciting and I enjoyed every minute making it.

“The most challenging is definitely the wedding cake I made for my best friend as what looks simple and clean is often the most challenging, and it was for my best friend so had to be perfect.”
