An Evesham man has been fined hundreds of pounds and banned from keeping animals for life after being found guilty of kicking a bulldog.

Bradley Archer pleaded guilty to inflicting physical abuse to the female cross breed, named Bella, by way of a kick between May and June this year.

Kidderminster magistrates ruled the 25-year-old must pay a total of £635 - including a £200 fine, £400 costs and a £35 surcharge.

An order was also made under the Animal Welfare Act to disqualify Archer from dealing with all animals in respect of owning them, keeping them, participating in keeping them and from being party to an arrangement under which they are kept for life.

No application for the termination of the order can be made within a period of 5 years.

Magistrates said Archer's guilty plea was taken into account while imposing the sentence.

The bench further agreed the prosecutor's costs will be paid from central funds to the RSPCA in West Sussex.

Bradley Archer of Rynal Place, Evesham was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, December 14.
