Water levels in Bow and Piddle Brook are 'slowly dropping' as Worcestershire remains on flood alert.

An updated report from response teams confirmed the Besford Bridge river gauge has peaked and is currently starting to gradually fall.

However, the Environment Agency has warned levels remain elevated and has re-issued its call for residents to 'be prepared' for flooding as further rainfall is expected in the next 24 hours.

Flooding may still affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the Brooks from Webheath to Defford.

Meanwhile, other locations which remain at risk include Crowle, Wickenham, Peopleton, Pinvin and Pershore.

A secondary warning remains in place for Worcester, however, water levels in the River Severn are also gradually declining.

Teams are continuing to check flood defences and weed screens while they closely monitor the situation.

An updated warning for Bow and Piddle Brook on the GOV.UK website said: "River levels remain high at the Besford Bridge river gauge as a result of recent rainfall.

"Consequently, it is possible flooding of roads and farmland will continue today (December 28).

"Flooding may still affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the Brooks from Webheath to Defford.

"Other locations that may be affected include Crowle, Wickenham, Peopleton, Pinvin and Pershore. Local fords may also be flooded.

"Rain showers are forecast during the next 24 hours, river levels are expected to remain elevated but generally continue to fall in this gauge location.

"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences and clearing weed screens.

"Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
