Horses have been spotted tethered on a busy roundabout in Evesham.

Phaedra Casey noticed the animals, on the roundabout that connects the A46 to Broadway Road, on Tuesday, December 28.

In a tweet, she wrote: “Several distressed horses tethered on the A46 roundabout at the top of Broadway Road Evesham.”

The RSPCA say they have not yet had any reports of the animals in question.

A spokesman said: "We do have serious concerns about tethering horses - it can lead to horses becoming tangled, not having enough grazing or being able to reach water - but it is not illegal to do so provided their needs are being met.

“If the land is owned by the council then this is an entirely inappropriate place to tether horses and people need to report it.

“Anyone with any specific concerns about these or any tethered horse should call us on 0300 1234 999."

Police have been contacted for a response.
