IT is good that the subject of the pollution crises that is affecting our local rivers is now making the local and national media.

What's not apparent is the effect on the only group, as far as I know, currently suffering sanctions: local builders and developers.

There has been a moratorium in place on house building and works in the Wye and Lugg catchment areas since 2019.

Even though the primary problem has been run off from farming practices and large chicken units.

Also the fact that sewage pumping stations have been doing exactly what they were designed to do when under pressure.

Discharge raw sewage into our rivers.

Builders and developers are a long way from being the primary cause of the phosphate crisis out rivers are suffering from.

Yet we are suffering hard financial and livelihood issues as a result.

Communication, at best, has been economical from Herefordshire Council.

We still have little idea of any kind of effective plan, or timescales.

The loss of revenue alone runs into millions of pounds. As we head into the third year of this stop on building and development we are suffering serious economic hardship. Some of us will not survive.
