HEREFORD assistant manager Steve Burr said his side had to be ruthless with their chances and that was the difference as Gateshead ran out 2-0 winners at Edgar Street.

Bulls forward Miles Storey saw a one on one chance saved in the first half before heading wide in the second as Hereford struggled against their second placed visitors.

“They’re a good side trying to get out of this division,” said Burr.

“Today there was moments in the game we could have done better with. We gave the ball away too cheaply in the first half and when you are playing a side like Gateshead when you lose the ball you don’t see it for a while.

“The lads worked hard enough but just ran out of steam in the second half. In the end they (Gateshead) just showed their quality and composure in the areas that we could have done better in.

“There were chances and Miles (Storey) hasn’t deliberately tried to miss but the touch towards the goal got away from him.

“It just wasn’t to be. That’s the difference at the moment when chances come your way you have to be ruthless and that was the difference with Gateshead.

“If you’re scoring goals you’re going to win matches but we struggled to do that today.”
