It’s Dementia Awareness Week and to celebrate, more than 40 organisations have come together to highlight the support on offer in and around Evesham.

The Vale of Evesham Primary Care Network, spearheaded by Abbey medical Practice, has organised Living Well for a Healthier Memory & Longer Life.

The free community event will see more than 40 organisations showcase the services available for people facing the challenges of long-term health conditions such as memory loss and dementia.

A similar show was held in 2019 but plans for a larger event had to be put on hold due to the pandemic.

Carolyn Pym, memory loss advisor at Abbey Medical Practice, said: "We have all been through unprecedented times over the last two years, and as we strive to return to normality, I feel it is more important than ever to help our patients understand the help and support available and how they may access it."

The event, which runs from 10am to 2pm, will also feature a variety of activities including art workshops, live music, guest speakers and food.

However, the work of Abbey Medical Practice doesn't stop at the end of Dementia Awareness Week, which runs until Sunday, May 22.

GP partner at the practice, doctor Julia Lloyd, and her colleagues will head out on a 26-mile walk to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society on July 16.
