An Evesham schoolgirl has been selected to be a Queen's baton bearer for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Kiaragh Brown, 17, attends Prince Henry's High School and was nominated for all the charity and community work that she has done over the last few years.
Miss Brown said: "I am very honoured to be chosen as I think it shows that volunteering, giving of your time which costs nothing and paying it forward is rewarding in itself and there is so much you get so much back in return from a feel-good factor to knowing you have made a difference to someone's life.
"Our Queen has devoted her life to serving our country and I find myself very patriotic to all that her reign stands for.
"It is fantastic that I will get to carry it through Pershore where I am an active member of the PODS group and have just finished treading the boards in 'Mad about Musicals' and being local means I can have my friends and family there to support me.
"At Prince Henry's, volunteering forms the basis of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme where I am currently doing my Gold Award having done Bronze and Silver through covid and the school has a pro-active community outreach through Interact too.
"The Commonwealth Games opens in Birmingham on Thursday, July 28 and I shall be there with some of the other 2022 baton bearers that have carried it around the Commonwealth."

Miss Brown is a Youth Ambassador for Pancreatic Cancer UK, has raised money for British Heart Foundation and has been instrumental in getting a defibrillator installed in Church Lench and Rous Lench.
She also works in a soup kitchen in Evesham and participates in a wide range of activities both in and out of school.
MP Nigel Huddleston came to the school to congratulate her on the achievement.
Miss Brown's parents, Chris and Christina Brown, are extremely proud of their daughter.

Mrs Brown said: "Chris and I are very humbled that she has been selected to carry the Queens baton as it comes through our local town.
"Kiaragh has a lot of humility and she does her volunteering quietly and confidently without a fuss."
