A man has died following a crash, despite the best efforts of bystanders.

An elderly man died and a motorcyclist was taken to hospital following a collision on Pershore Road, Evesham, yesterday.

Passers-by at the scene attempted to save the man's life but their attempts were unsuccessful.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “Crews arrived to find a pedestrian, a man, in a critical condition being given CPR by bystanders and an off-duty paramedic.

“Ambulance crews worked as a team to deliver advanced life support but sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone there, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead on scene a short time later.”

The crash occurred at the junction of the B4084 Pershore Road and Haselor Lane, Charlton, shortly before 1:30pm on Sunday.

WMAS sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene, while the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance with a doctor and paramedic on board also attended.

The WMAS spokesperson added: “The motorcyclist, a man, was assessed and found with no significant injuries.

“He was given treatment on scene before being conveyed by land ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further care.”
