IT'S not your typical animal running around a racecourse - but a man was stunned to see three deer racing on Pitchcroft.

James Moore captured the amazing video of the trio running around Worcester Racecourse in the early hours of the morning.

He said it was the last thing he expected to see while walking his German shepherd Wilbo on the field.

The three deer can be seen in the short video, running at speed around the track, as if they were in a race.

Mr Moore, from Barbourne, said: "It was the last thing I expected to see on the racecourse at 5.30am that morning.

"I have seen otters in the park in Barbourne but never deer on Pitchcroft.

"I go down to the racecourse early most days to walk our German shepherd Wilbo before work so this was a complete shock."

Earlier this month, three deer were also spotted swimming across the River Severn near Pitchcroft.

Sally-Ann Wood was amazed to spot the trio while on a video call and took the pictures of the deer to prove to her husband-to-be she had seen them.

Miss Wood said: "I was sitting on our balcony opposite Pitchcroft on a video call to my fiancè Benjamin and I spotted movement on the sandy bit where dogs usually play and get in the water.

"They stood there for a few seconds, then I saw that they each got in one after the other and started swimming.

"At first I thought they were dogs so I wasn't paying too much attention, but then realised they were deer and said to Benjamin, who thought I was talking rubbish and thought there can't be."
