An Evesham takeaway has closed just months after opening despite huge success.

Roly Poly Eats, on Davies Road, has been closed due to issues recruiting staff.

The sit-in restaurant only opened in March, following on from the success of the brand in Pershore during the lockdowns.

CEO Darren Lusted announced the decision to close the Evesham branch through the takeaway’s Facebook page.

The post read: “We're sorry to say that Evesham has permanently closed.

“After some long, hard, conversations and soul searching we feel this was our only option for the sanity of everyone within the business.

“We had so many plans for over there.”

Evesham Journal: Staffing issues and the return of outdoor events brought about the close of the branchStaffing issues and the return of outdoor events brought about the close of the branch

The post states that Roly Poly Eats “quadrupled the taking in six months”.

However, it adds that it is this success that brought the business' downfall.

“It couldn't cope with demand with the little staff we had,” the post continued.

“At the moment the staff situation industry-wide is beyond difficult and we just couldn't find the right person for the role.

“It's not even about the money, there literally isn't anyone out there."

The return of outdoor events was another reason for the closure, with Mr Lusted unable to continue helping out at the Evesham branch.

A staff member down, the “wheels came off very quickly” and standards slipped at the takeaway.

The post ends by stating that the original Pershore branch will continue.

There are also plans to potentially extend opening days and reopen the upstairs.

“Myself and all my staff just want to get back to enjoying what we do again rather than it being a mental slog.

“Closing Evesham has definitely been the best decision for all of us but we're so sorry to the great customers we had there.

“We're also sorry it took a while to inform you all, but we had to be certain it was the right thing to do.

“We hope you'll visit us in Pershore and come and find us out and about at events.”
