A road near Evesham is set to be hit with weeks of road closures and temporary lights.

Works are starting on the B4085 Station Road between Blackminster School and South Littleton Village.

A new footpath and cycleway is being constructed in three phases by Worcestershire County Council.

The works, which the council says will enhance the walking and cycling provision in the area, will run until Friday, September 4, 2022.

Phase one of the works will take place within South Littleton Village from July 11-15 and will require temporary traffic signals between 8am and 4pm, on each day of the works.

Phase two will be carried out under a road closure on the B4085 Station Road, from July 18-22, between 9am and 3pm each day.

The third phase will take place between July 25 and September 4. This phase will also require a road closure on the B4085 Station Road, which will be in place from 7.30am until 5pm each day, with the road open to traffic outside of these times.

Work will enhance walking and cycling routes in Worcestershire

Councillor Mike Rouse, Worcestershire’s cabinet member for highways, said: “These works are another example of the ongoing improvements being made by the council to enhance walking and cycling routes across the county.

“We’re aware of the local desire for these works to take place and I’m pleased that we’re now in a position to construct the foot/cycleway in this area.”

Access to properties fronting the works will be maintained during the works. A signed diversion route will be provided throughout the duration of the works.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
