Police are appealing for witnesses to a 'stabbing' in Evesham.

A man was taken to hospital with a "small laceration" following an assault on Port Street on Thursday night.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was alerted to reports of a 'stabbing' shortly before 11pm.

However, West Mercia Police have now said it is not yet clear what caused the injury.

An ambulance, paramedic officer and a critical care paramedic all attended the scene before the victim was taken to hospital on blue lights with what police describe as "non-life-threatening" injuries.

Officers are now looking to speak with anyone who may have information about the assault.

To report details of the incident, you can call the police on 101 or head to the West Mercia website, quoting incident 613 of 7 July.

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers either online or by calling 0800 555 111.
