An Evesham pet charity is helping owners better understand their pets.

Dogs Trust Evesham is offering free workshops this summer with the aim of helping families live happily and safely alongside their canine companions.

The charity, which finds new homes for thousands of dogs every year, is offering the ‘How to stay safe this Summer’ workshops to families with children aged seven and over.

Charlotte Paddock, Dogs Trust education officer, said: “As we spend more time with our four-legged friends during the holiday periods, Summer is a perfect opportunity to learn safe and kind ways to show dogs that we love and care about them.

“Using games and lots of activities, we explore everything from what dogs need to feel safe and comfortable, to how we can understand their body language and what influences how a dog feels and behaves.

“Even if you don’t have a dog, we will inevitably come across them when we are out and about, so understanding as much as possible about them gives us the best chance of living happily and safely alongside them.”

The 90-minute workshops will be held at Dogs Trust Evesham, along the A44 (Pitchers Hill) near Wickhamford.

Workshops will be held on July 26, August 3 and August 19 all at 10.30am.

There will also be a session on September 1, starting at 1pm.

Children attending the workshops must be accompanied by an adult and no dogs will be in attendance.
