The Flying Scotsman will take centre stage in Evesham this week.

With its 100th birthday fast approaching, award-winning TV producer David Parker will visit Evesham this week to shed light on a year he spent following the rebuild of the world’s most famous steam engine.

Mr Parker made two shows about the rebuild and will hold a talk at Evesham Rowing Club on Wednesday, August 3, to provide further insight into the experience.

It is not the first time Mr Parker has visited the town, having held talks previously as part of the Evesham Festival of Words on his work with Laurie Lee and Johnny Kingdom.

Chair of the festival, Sue Ablett, said: “After a wonderful main Festival weekend, and a fantastic concert last week by EODS, we are so pleased to still be offering a number of events for the rest of the year.

“It would be a real shame if we had to wait another year for Festival events.”
