Fishermen took to the Avon, battling it out to be crowned Evesham’s finest.

The Evesham Angling Festival returned last weekend, the 43rd edition of the event.

Multiple championships took place over the three-day event saw, kicking off with the Wychavon Championship on Saturday, August 27.

Peter McFayden saw off seven competitors to be crowned the winner, with all of the anglers having qualified for the event through a series of matches held throughout the year

The Evesham Championship took place on Sunday, once again featuring eight qualified anglers, with James Robbins coming out on top.

The final event was the Avons Team Championship, on Bank Holiday Monday.

16 teams of five competed with Preston Innovations Delcac’s Ben McGrath finishing in first place.

The prize money fund for the festival weekend was £26,350, with a further £30,000 being paid out at the qualifier matches throughout the year.
