A chilli fanatic has launched a new hot sauce for Movember.

Shawn Overthrow runs the Evesham-based business Flavour and Fire, which consists of two main brands, Henry’s Hot Sauces and Oscar’s Flavour Ranges, named after his two sons.

To mark Movember, when men around the world grow out their facial hair in the name of men’s health issues, Shawn has released a new chilli sauce.

He said: “I decided to make a chilli sauce for Movember to raise awareness and funds for men's health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health and suicide prevention.”

The sauce itself is a lemon and sweet chilli-style sauce made from yellow bell peppers, with hints of ginger and coriander.

Shawn explained that it takes its heat from the yellow Aji lemon chilli, which has floral citrus notes, making it a great pair for steak, chicken and fish.

The dad-of-two is also president of the UK chapter of the Sons of Fire, a global chilli fan club.

“We get together and see what we can do to support charities as a collective,” Shawn added.

“Just last month we raised money by completing Peak in a Week for Bone Cancer Research Trust and this month we are raising money for Cancer Research UK and Brain Tumour Research.

“We have members globally that support us on these challenges and help us to raise funds.”

He continued: “I have such a great support network all over the world with Sons of Fire.

“It definitely makes the challenges easier knowing we are not alone.

“We are all working globally united as one.”

Anyone looking to sample some of Flavour and Fire’s sauces will be able to do so at the Christopher Whitehead Language Christmas Fayre on Saturday, November 19.
