One of the first people at the scene of an explosion in Evesham has shared their experience.

A neighbour, who didn't wish to be named, has described the moment a house on Hemmingway exploded.

"It's horrific," she said.

"There was a massive bang and the whole house shook, I thought my roof had come off or something.

"We opened the blinds and there was all this debris coming towards us."

West Mercia Police believe the explosion to have been caused by gas.

Neighbouring properties have been evacuated as a precaution.

The eyewitness continued: "My husband put his shoes on and went straight over.

"He went in as far as the kitchen but said he could smell the gas and had to come out.

"Everyone is outside the front of my house now, I think they're waiting to go in.

"We've been told to close the windows and stay in."

She added: "It is just unbelievable, I feel so sorry for them.

"I thought Putin had decided to bomb Fairfield."
