AN Evesham burger restaurant has announced with a "heavy heart" it has closed for good.

Charlies on Market Square has shut up shop for the last time, with rising costs to blame.

The restaurant opened its doors on May 14 2021, and has since become a staple burger place. 

A spokesperson for the business said: "Sad times, I'm afraid.

"Due to ever-increasing costs, it is with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye.

"We have had a good few years, and your support has been fab, but it is time to close the door.

"Love from Mez and Matt and the Team."

The business did a range of American-styled food, from mac bowls, chicken tenders and loaded fries.

But the most popular item on its menu was the burgers.

It also sold a range of alcoholic drinks like cocktails. 

News of the restaurant's permanent closure has been met with sorrow by its customers, with dozens taking to social media to show their support.

One regular customer said: "Our little family will be gutted to hear your news.

"We are sorry to say goodbye to you but wish you all the very best for the future."

Another shopper said: "Our little family will be gutted to hear your news.

Other customers have said how they miss the shop's alternative burger options, which have been described as "the best in town".

One customer said: "Gutted!

"Only place in town I could get a brilliant vegan burger.

"Good luck!"

Another added: "Gutted, best gluten-free on offer in town!"

Customers who have now moved away are sharing their sadness about finding out the news.

"Such a shame, even though I have moved away now, your food was always top-notch delicious.

"All the best for the future, guys."
