SEWAGE has turned a footpath into a “bog”, residents say.

The Aldington Residents Association has raised concerns about the state of a footpath near Badsey Brook.

The group say it has been caused by an overflowing Severn Trent water main and believes it could be “really hazardous” to people and dogs walking through the area.

A spokesperson for the residents association said: “Please take care when walking in the field the other side of the footbridge over the Brook.

“This has been reported and as of yet nothing has been done.

“Potentially this could be really hazardous to anyone or their dogs. Info on how to report is on the notice.”

Aldington resident Hannah Oldham added: “With the weather likely to improve at some point and more and more people looking to use this footpath, it’s pretty hideous to have sewage seeping out and making it boggy.”

Severn Trent confirmed it was called to the incident last year but after investigations, found no signs of wastewater.

Following the residents association’s fresh concerns, the water company will be returning.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We investigated a potential sewer flooding at the end of last year, where there were reports of a sewer pipe leaking onto a footpath.

“Our teams attended and checked the network and confirmed that there was no wastewater detected, suggesting that the issue is not to do with the sewer network.

“However, that said our teams will happily take another look into this and revisit the area to do a follow-up investigation to help get to the bottom of what’s causing the water on the footpath, and support with getting it sorted.”
