An EVESHAM man has been named in the King’s Birthday Honours List for his work in support of the Armed Forces.

Clifford Mark Robson, the group managing director for air at BAE Systems, has been awarded a CBE for services to the defence industry.

Mr Robson joined British Aerospace Military Aircraft in 1984 and subsequently took on a number of senior management roles across the company.

Prior to his current role in the air sector, Mr Robson was managing director of submarines within the BAE Systems Maritime and Land Sector, after completing a 15 month secondment with Rolls Royce Nuclear at Derby.

In this position he oversaw the UK submarine programmes Astute and Dreadnought.

His current role has seen him involved with several important programmes for the Armed Forces and UK allies, including , including Hawk, Tornado, F-35 and Typhoon.

Throughout his time at the company, Mr Robson has lead teams across the UK, including Warton, Brough, Barrow and Derby, as well and internationally.

Mr Robson said: “It is an honour and a pleasure to receive this award in the King’s Honours List. Being recognised for work and an industry that I feel so passionate about means a great deal to me. 

“The UK’s sovereign defence capabilities are essential for the security of the nation.

“We should feel proud of the significant contribution the industry makes to prosperity and our local communities while doing our vital work to support our Armed Forces.

“I am extremely proud to have played a part in maintaining and developing these capabilities for the next generation.

“None of this would have been possible without the fantastic colleagues, customers and partners I have worked with over the last 40 years and of course the support of my family.”
