THREE one-day agricultural shows are teaming up to offer a special award.

Hanbury Countryside Show in Worcestershire, Burwarton Show in Shropshire and Moreton Show in Gloucestershire will host the Three Shires Cattle Competition.

The three shows - sometimes known as the Triple Crown - will give a trophy to the exhibitor with the most points across the three shows.

And Steve Glanvill, partner at Hook Norton Veterinary Group, added: "We are greatly looking forward to presenting the awards to the winners at Moreton Show in September."

Handlers will accumulate points by showing their cattle at all three shows, and the running total will be kept secret until the finale at Moreton Show in the Grand Arena.

As well as the £1000 top prize, the runner-up will receive £350 and £150 will go to third place.

Lynne Parkes, Moreton Livestock Secretary, said: "This treble, involving three shows, is aiming to attract some of the finest cattle from across the UK, and we’d like to encourage farmers to compete for what will be the equivalent of a championship final in cattle showing."

The Moreton Show is one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in the country, with 200 trade stands and a variety of family-friendly entertainment.

This year's event will have the Grand Arena once again filled with acts like the Shetland Pony Grand National, the Heavy Horse Parade and the Livestock Parade, which simultaneously features 30 different breeds of animals in the ring.
