A COLLEGE has become a new venue for weddings in Worcestershire.

Pershore College, in Avonbank, is set to host weddings in its grounds for the first time after signing a new deal.

The weddings and associated events are for South Asian communities, with the grounds picked as the perfect place for couple to tie the knot.

Midlands-based Sovereignty Venue & Event Management has partnered with WCG - the group Pershore College is part of - to launch the project.

Sovereignty is looking at building state-of-the-art 360-view marquees in the college grounds which will enable guests to enjoy the celebration inside and still see the Worcestershire countryside around them.

The organisers say there may also be opportunities for celebrations to be held at the venue later this year.

The deal will see the continued growth of WCG’s ‘Venues’ brand which operates conference and events venues across the group’s colleges in Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

Sovereignty has more than 12 years’ experience in organising and managing large-scale south Asian events, holding up to 40 weddings a year in venues across the Midlands and nationally.

Sarah Butterfield, director of commercial development at WCG, said: “We have been seeking a partner that will help us to bring weddings and associated events to our colleges, and this deal with Sovereignty will help us to do that.

“The college invests the proceeds from WCG Venues directly back into our colleges and to enhance educational delivery for our students.

“We’re developing a strong venue offer across our college group, from conferences and exhibitions to business events and weddings, and partnering with Sovereignty sees the organisation continue to expand in this area.”

Arum Javed, from Sovereignty, added: "The space at Pershore College has an untapped potential to provide a truly incredible setting for weddings.

“It’s fantastic for us to be partnering with WCG Venues and expanding our footprint in Worcestershire.

"We look forward to creating memorable experiences and occasions at Pershore College.”
