A BY-ELECTION will be held in Evesham this week following the death of a long-serving councillor.

Cllr Ed Cohen died on June 6, aged 73 and represented the Evesham South Ward seat in Wychavon District Council.

Residents in the Evesham South Ward are urged to apply to vote before the deadline on Wednesday (August 2).

Poll cards have already been sent out to residents in the area who are registered to vote. 

Anyone not receiving one has been urged to visit the Wychavon District Council website.

Only voters in the Evesham South Ward will be eligible to vote. 

Who are the six candidates standing for the Evesham by-election: 

Stan Brotherton (The Conservative Party Candidate) 

Julie Anne Haines (Independent) 

Peter John Knight (The Green Party) 

David William Ernest Quayle (Liberal Democrats) 

Matt Snape (Independent) 

David Martin Tasker (Labour Party) 

What will I need to vote for?

Voters will be required to show Voter ID before being allowed to vote.  

There are many accepted forms of ID, including a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport, a UK or EEA driver's licence, a blue badge or an older person's bus pass.

The complete list of accepted photo IDs can be found on the elections page of Wychavon’s website. 

Voters can use out-of-date IDs if they are still recognisable from the photo.
