THOUSANDS had fun at a popular steam rally.

Fireworks and steam trains were all part of the fun at the Welland Steam Rally, which took place over the weekend.

The event was held on Woodside Farm, Welland, from Friday, July 28 to Sunday, July 30 and featured a wide array of activities for the entire family, including steam train rides, tug of war, a craft tent and a farmers market.

More than 100 of the country's steam engines and 500 vintage cars, motorcycles and pedal cycles were on display at the event,

The model tent - remote control models creating construction scenes - was also back by popular demand.

The event also had a fairground featuring traditional amusements such as galloping horses, a big wheel, dodgems, hurricane jets, skid and a ghost train, and side stalls, accompanied by traditional fairground music.

More than 20 Showman’s Engines generated electricity to power and light the fair.

Welland Steam Rally provided a rare opportunity for visitors to experience the power of machinery working out in the field as it once did in the past and road-making demonstrations.

The team behind the event thanked everyone who attended over the weekend and its volunteers who had played a vital role in making the event go ahead.

A spokesperson for the rally said: "Thanks to everyone who attended Welland Steam Rally 2023 - you all helped to make it a fantastic weekend where lots of memories have been made.
