A HUGE sum was raised by a hotel after it decided to get its customers to buy invisible chips.

The White Hart Royal, based in Moreton in Marsh, has raised thousands for Hospitality Action, which supports businesses in their time of need.

Portions of invisible chips were bought by diners for £2 at The White Hart Royal, which went towards helping the hotel or catering industry.

The hotel run by The Coaching Inn Group owns thirty-three hotels and inns in market towns right across the country.

In total, £13,000 has been raised through invisible chip donations this year.

Group chief executive officer, Kevin Charity, said the group’s whole ethos was based around providing ‘hospitality from the heart’ for all the market town communities it served.

“So, thanks to our core base of generous-hearted community customers and our many hotel guests, we have now been able to donate £29,000 to Hospitality Action over the past three years."

The historic hotel was brought by The Coaching Inn Group from pub giant Greene King.

The hotel was visited twice by Charles I during the Civil War, which is the earliest surviving proof of its existence in 1644.

However, its trading history is almost certainly much older.

The Coaching Inn Group was founded in 1996 and has sites mainly in historic market towns, including the Peak District and Cambridgeshire, as well as The Feathers in Ludlow, Herefordshire.
