WORCESTERSHIRE has some of the highest figures in the country for children's key vaccinations.

Across the UK, there are sharp differences in vaccine coverage, however, Worcestershire's figures are above 90 per cent in all three sections.

Dr Lisa McNally, Director of Public Health for Worcestershire, said: “Thank you to every parent and carer who has taken the time and care to get their children vaccinated.

"We are really pleased with the vaccination rates for Worcestershire, but realise there are still some unvaccinated children.

"If you haven’t managed to get your child vaccinated yet, it’s never too late to catch up.

"Please contact your GP to get an appointment.

"Getting vaccinated, not only protects your child, it reduces the spread of disease.”

The first section gives the data for children who received their primary DtaP/IPV/Hib/HepB (six-in-one) vaccination by their first birthday.

The second section gives the data for children who received their primary DtaP/IPV/Hib/HepB (six-in-one) vaccination or DTaP/IPV/Hib (five-in-one) vaccine by their fifth birthday.

The third section gives the data for children who received both doses of their MMR (measles, mumps & rubella) vaccine by their fifth birthday.

The data has been published by NHS England for the year 2022/23.

The DTaP/IPV/Hib (five-in-one) vaccine was replaced by the DTaP/IPV/Hib/HepB (six-in-one) vaccine in August 2017, meaning five-year-olds in 2022/23 will have been offered either the five-in-one or the six-in-one vaccination, depending on the year they were vaccinated.

Worcestershire has 95.5 per cent vaccinated with the primary six-in-one injection (DtaP/IPV/Hib/HepB) by their first birthday in the 2022/23 time period.

The highest is Sunderland with 97.6 per cent and lowest is Hackney & City of London (London) with just 67.8 per cent.

The percentage of Worcestershire children in 2022/23 who had received their primary DtaP/IPV/Hib/HepB (six-in-one) vaccination or DTaP/IPV/Hib (five-in-one) vaccine by their fifth birthday is 96.5 per cent.

Derbyshire is highest with 97.6 per cent and Hackney & City of London (London) 79.4 per cent.

However, the percentage for Worcestershire dips slightly for the number of children in the same period who had received both doses of their MMR vaccine by their fifth birthday at 90.6 per cent.

The highest area is East Riding of Yorkshire (Yorkshire/Humber) with 94.4 per cent and, again, the lowest is Hackney & City of London (London) with just 56.3%.
