It doesn’t seem possible that we are into September already and starting another Tree of Light Campaign.

This year is very special as it is the 25th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Evesham, started in December '99 and lit over the Christmas and into the New Year 2000 to celebrate the Millennium, little did we know that we would still be doing this all these years later.

The tree has become an icon in our town, sitting at the bottom of Bridge Street, on the bank of the river, next to Workman Bridge it can be seen from all over the town and beyond, it is a beautiful sight and heralds the coming of Christmas.

Christmas is the time when we miss our loved ones more than ever, so it is lovely to be able to remember them by making a donation to the Tree of Light, your donations will as always be used to help local charities,

More than £250,000 has been raised over the last 25 years thanks to the generosity of our local people and local businesses.

Many of you who have kindly donated in the past will be receiving letters shortly thanking you for your previous support as well a form to return if you wish to donate this year.

These forms can be posted to Evesham Rotary, PO Box 335, Evesham WR11 9EX or dropped off at Osbornes, Cheltenham Road Post Office, Badsey PO or Simply Stone.

You can also donate online by visiting www.eveshamrotaryclub.org or filling in the form in the Evesham Journal featured fortnightly.

We will look forward to seeing you at the switch on ceremony which will be take place outside the Methodist Church opposite the Tree on Thursday, September 30 at 6.30pm.

This year we will be welcoming the Bishop of Worcester, our MP Nigel Huddleston as well as our Mayor Alan Booth to this very special event.
