Residents have been invited to The Vale Crematorium to take part in its annual Christmas Carol and Memorial Service.

The open invitation for the Evesham community is for Tuesday, December 12.

The event intends to provide a forum for friends and families to come together and remember their loved ones, especially during the Christmas season when feelings of loss can be heightened.

Beginning at 6pm, attendees will enjoy a variety of readings and classic Christmas carols led by a choir.

The event is free of charge, and no prior booking is required.

Visitors will also get the opportunity to write personal message tags for a memory tree and post letters or cards in the recently installed ‘Letters to Loved Ones’ memorial post box, which was set up earlier this year to allow the bereaved to feel connected to their lost loved ones.

Furthermore, the service will include a photo slideshow, with attendees encouraged to send in pictures of their loved ones to be included to thevale@westerleighgroup.co.uk by Thursday, December 7, titled 'Christmas Service Photo Slideshow'.

Collections made during the event will be donated to Dementia UK.

The Vale manager Catherine Linfield said: "Our annual Christmas Carol and Memorial Service provides a fitting way for people to reflect and honour their loved ones during the festive season.

"This service provides a chance for people to not only pay tribute to their loved ones but also be in the company of other people who are in a similar situation, which in itself can be a source of comfort.

"Our Christmas carol service is open for anyone and everyone who lives, works or who is visiting the communities surrounding our crematorium leading up to Christmas. Everyone is welcome."

In addition to the service, The Vale Crematorium will open its doors for quiet reflection in its chapel or grounds on Sunday, December 17 between 10am and 11.30am.
