Hundreds of people turned up to light up the evening sky at a hospice charity's annual memory walk near Worcester.

On Saturday, February 10, over 400 people gathered near Worcester to take part in the Lantern Walk, a 1.5-mile route around the National Trust's Croome Court in support of St Richard's Hospice.

The hospice is an independent charity offering care for adults with a serious progressive illness.

Each year, the hospice team lends support to over 3,100 patients, family members, and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

Their aim is to improve the quality of life for these individuals from the time of their diagnosis, during their treatment, and to their last days.

The participants, holding glowing lanterns, walked to remember their loved ones, raising £7,438 for the hospice in the process.

The scenic walk through the parkland was organised by Sofia Gunster, events and community fundraising lead at St Richard’s.

Ms Gunster said: "We had a beautiful evening remembering our loved ones and enjoying the parkland gently lit by lanterns.

"It was wonderful to see so many people attend this year’s event and we are blown away by the amount raised.

"Every penny will help us continue to provide our care for free to people with serious, progressive illnesses and their loved ones."

Attendees also had the opportunity to leave messages for loved ones on a Memory Tree within Temple Green House, and were treated to a performamce from singer Hannah Mac.

Paddleboarders from Bonkers Activities, Pershore, added to the spectacle with light-up wings, creating a twinkling display on the lake.
