A HIT and run in Evesham involving a car and pedestrian has left a 73-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run in Evesham on Thursday which caused serious injuries to a pedestrian.

The incident happened around 11.05am on Bridge Street near to Workman Bridge. A 73-year-old woman who was crossing the road, was struck by a Grey Ford Kuga which then failed to stop.

The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision happen and to anyone who may have dash-cam footage from around the time it happened.

The road was closed as emergency services rushed to the scene although has since reopened.

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian on Bridge Street at 11.03am, two ambulances and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman, who was the pedestrian. She was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Worcester Royal Hospital by land ambulance."

West Mercia Police announced shortly before 3pm yesterday the road had reopened, thanking the public for their patience.
