He hosted the special evening at Hilperton Village Hall with his wife Lillian and celebrated with 90 friends and relatives.

Trevor said: “It was absolutely brilliant. We had a lovely weekend with the annual Civic Dinner on Saturday and my birthday bash yesterday.

“I called it the Wonderful Wake because I wanted to celebrate with friends and it was the ideal opportunity to get everybody together.”

Trevor has been the Trowbridge town crier for the past 38 years and he and Lillian will be celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary on Friday (March 29).

The couple, who live at School Lane, Staverton, have a daughter Emma, who is married to Chris Roxburgh, and two grandsons, Charles and George.
