A DRIVER has been charged after a fatal Cotswold crash that killed three teenagers last year.

The 18-year-old from Newbold on Stour was driving himself and three teens home from school when his Ford Fiesta crashed into a Fiat 500 on the B4035 Campden Road in Shipston on April 21, 2023.

Harry Purcell, aged 17,  16-year-old Matilda Seccombe and 16-year-old Frank Wormald, who attended Chipping Campden School, all died in hospital.

The driver was charged with three accounts of causing death by carelessness, inconsiderate driving and causing serious injury by careless and inconsiderate driving.

The occupants of the Fiat 500 - a woman and two children - were taken to hospital with serious injuries and continue to receive ongoing treatment for their injuries.

The 18-year-old has been summoned to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court on May 8.

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision at approximately 4pm on Friday, April 21, 2023.

All three teenagers were sixth-form pupils at Chipping Campden School.

Chipping Campden School pupils and staff gathered to offer support to one another as books of condolence were opened for each of the students who died.

The school set aside an area next to the flagpole for members of the community to lay flowers and messages of condolence and the school flag flew at half-mast.

Flowers were also laid at the scene of the crash.
