THERE were two reports of assault and a person was taken to hospital after an incident at a town council meeting.
An investigation has been launched after an incident just after a full Evesham Town Council meeting ended on Monday.
Councillors and members of the public were leaving Evesham Town Hall on Vine Street when it happened.
A woman was taken to Alexandra Hospital following the incident.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We have received two separate reports of assaults happening at Evesham Town Hall on Monday evening (April 9).
"Officers are now investigating both reports."
Jo Adams, Evesham Town Council clerk, said: "After the conclusion of the meeting when those assembled were preparing to leave the room, a councillor verbally abused another councillor and became agitated as they tried to exit the room past her.
"A fellow councillor assisted them into the recovery position.
"As a precaution an ambulance was called and the defibrillator fetched.
"There were approximately 20 people in the room when this incident happened, comprising both councillors and members of the public.
"We have yet to receive any testimony of any attack, whether verbal or physical, on this councillor."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance service said: “We were called at 7.44pm on Monday to an incident at a property on Vine Street, Evesham.
"One ambulance attended the scene.
"Upon arrival, we found a woman who was assessed by ambulance staff before being conveyed to the Alexandra Hospital for further assessment.”
